So first and foremost, I am a major failure. I haven't even updated since returning from Ghana, almost a month ago! I have been so busy since getting back that I actually haven't had an opportunity to write. Okay, maybe that's a little bit of a lie, but things just kept getting in the way, and I kept putting it off and forgetting. So sorry to everyone, how no one was conerned!
So my flight back from Ghana was actually really good. Even though it was long, I kept myself entertained watching tons of movies. I saw "Alice in Wonderland," "Date Night," and other miscellaneous movies that I am forgetting at the moment. Needless to say, they probably weren't that great if I can't remember them. The flight was very smooth, and the vegetarian meals were actually very good. The only bad part was that they barely fed us at all! It was an 11 hour flight, give or take a few minutes, and we got a normal lunch and a light dinner. Two meals in 11 hours is rather ridiculous!
Since being back, I have moved into my dorm, started school, planned one for sure trip, and have several others in the works. School is going well - my classes are going rather well so far. A lot of work, but I find them interesting. My dorm room is super adorable. It's small, but much larger than last year. I feel so spoiled - though who would have even thought I would be excited about my 125 sq ft dorm room and think it is large!
Coming up I have two trips. The first is actually on Friday! I am going home for only about 48 hours. During that time I need to make room to see my parents and grandmother, go to Caraline and Patrick's wedding, and hopefully see a few friends. It's going to be busy! Second, for my fall break, I am traveling to Chicago with my mom to see the city, visit my aunt and uncle, and make a few college visits for potential grad schools. Other trips that are either unsure or in the works are a weekend to Pennsylvania to become a certified scuba diver (I am just LOVING my scuba class), Tennessee to visit Nick in his new place, Chile for a winter break hydrology field methods program, and maybe some travel with my research. I can hardly stay still, I know! Other places I am dying to go to include Hawaii to see Amanda and scuba. Who knows what will happen in the next few weeks. When I visited Haiti I found out less than a week before I left, so perhaps something crazy will come up last minute.
I will try to keep this updated more often. Even if it is just reminiscing or talking about planning cool trips. Maybe I should change the name of the blog to "Where in the World would Jenni like to be?"
Right now I am in Brooklyn, having spent the night with Dana and Nate to celebrate Dana's birthday. It was a lot of fun! I've got to head out soon and battle the subway system from hell. Weekend construction is the bane of my existence! I will certainly update next weekend on my fun trip home with all the exciting details!
